Gift Basket
Pomo gift basket coiled basket globose shape, decorated with quail feathers and small Woodpecker feathers which are deteriorated. The rim is decorated with four groups of sewn clamshell disc beads. The basket is a single rod foundation of willow except at the rim which is three-rod foundation. The weft is sedge grass root. The designs are elongated parallelograms which form open geometric shapes. The designs are dyed bulrush. The rim has alternating light-dark check patterns and each of the dark patterns has a single black stitch on either side. The direction of the coiling is clockwise when viewed from above. But this is difficult to tell because of the way the rim is crafted there is no unusual design deviation in the pattern.
