A Glimpse of Treasure From Iran
Exhibit Dates: Thursday, April 4th, 2024 – Thursday, May 2nd, 2024
In observance of Middle Eastern and North African Heritage Month, this exhibit is a collaboration between the SRJC Multicultural Museum and members of MENAA - the Middle Eastern and North African Association at Santa Rosa Junior College.
This exhibit features four objects from the SRJCMM collections, which were researched and interpreted by Nasrin Naraghi, an Iranian American instructor at the college:
- The Astrolabe: the original GPS before the GPS!
- A 19th Century Wedding Coin/ Treasure box
- A 19th Century Kulah Khud military helmet
- A leaflet from the Shahnameh, the Iranian National Epic, which was instrumental in saving and reviving the Persian language
