Ancestral Puebloan shoe wrapped material with braided string for attaching to foot. Worn hole in heel.
5/15/2025: Note with sandal says "Basket Maker’s sandal made of Yucca fibre found in ruins of Navajo country. This is one of the earliest types of weaving in southwest. The three Basket Makers civilizations are amongst the oldest recognized types in Arizona. This specimen is about 2000 years old. A gift to Santa Rosa Junior College by John Wetherill, Kayenta, Arizona Pioneer and veteran explorer of Navajo country and Ansel F. Hall, Chief Forester, National Park Service. "
