Twined Basketry Bowl
Klamath River Twined Basketry bowl from Karok Tribe. Globose shape with flat bottom. There are different kinds of twinning. The sides are adorned with 4 geometric patterns with diamonds in center. The designs are done in 1/2 twist overlay twining. They are done in black maidenhair fern stems on a field of bear grass. Base of the basket has diagonal twining and some of it is done in alternating stitches light and dark. The weft is conifer root. The warp is probably willow.
