Northern Maidu burden basket. Warp, willow. Weft conifer root. Full twist overlay twining. Designs of zigzag lines in dark conifer root (possible dyed) on a field of yellow bear grass. Two bands near rim, grown tip at base. Pitch down and to right. Double rod rim possibly peeled willow, wrapped with rattan. Date of manufacture circa 1900. Two small bits of blask maiden hair fern stem, placed near brown tip with red (faded) cord attached to rim. Rattan broken, other very good condition.
