Mush Bowl

Hupa mush Bowl. Twined bowl shaped basket. It is mostly plain twining and three-strand twining on base. It also has two bands of lattice twining. The warp material is willow. The weft material is conifer root. There are zigzag designs in 1/2 twist overlay twining which is all in bear grass and these design go completely around outside. The basket is sufficiently old an stained and may have been used in aboriginal times and dates before the turn of the century. Taped to bottom is name and number: H.Stitt
