Coiled Basket
Mission basket. A coiled basket of squat globose shape from Southern California. Coiling direction is clockwise when viewed from above. It has a bundle foundation of deer grass and it has a coiled weft of Juncus Rush. It has a very open zigzag pattern in dyed Juncus. The light colored designs make the initials A and E alternating around the basket. Indicating it is from the late historic mission period. (Turn of century). Pasted on bottom is a tag with "65-74 Roix" on it.
