Gift Basket

Pomo feather basket decorated with yellow and black feathers with a red dot in the center bottom outside. It is a coiled basket of three-rods. It has a warp of willow and a weft of sedge grass root. It is entirely covered with feathers: the yellow came from the meadow lark; the black from the mallard duck; the red from the woodpecker. The feathers on the bottom form a diamond design with red in the center. There is a string handle of shell beads (Washington clam) there are step designs (deer back patterns on interior) in the weave which are done in redbud and bulrush. It is a step design in four places inside the basket. There three steps in each unit, two are in redbud and one in bull rush. One side of the shell handle is detached.
