Winnowing Tray

Pomo Winnowing Tray. Dates from early 1900's. The weaving technique is twining. It begins at the start with 3" plain twining. There are three separate segments of lattice twining. There are thin bands of designs on the basket; two are simple band designs and two bands are zigzag designs. All bands are done in redbud most of the weft is sedge grass root with the warp of willow. The outer zigzag band design has a subtle dau pattern which consists of a few stitches.
