Nayarit Ceramic Head
Nayarit polychrome hollow ceramic head formed from dark brown clay, slip painted with red, black, and ochre. Face has a prominent nose with nose ring, one earspool (other is broken off), band around head painted with alternating red, ochre, and black stripes. Top of head has a deliberate .75" hole. Head has broken off of a larger piece, evidenced by jagged break. Some stabilizing putty residue on bottom.
