Cradle Basket - Klamath River area
Cradle basket; open twined construction, possibly hazel or willow with hood, loosely attached to basket with two pieces of twine. Hood appears to have been repaired, because it has light colored wrapping around edges of foundation in three areas, not matching the rest of the piece. Cradle basket is in relatively poor condition, having a long break on upper right side. Several pieces of foundation sticks are missing, in addition to missing pieces of wrapping at bottom front edge and top, revealing bundle of foundation sticks. Many small holes in basket materials reveal previous insect damage. A piece of leather thong is tied across basket, and a section of very brittle, yellowed commercial woven twine is tied across top portion. A small piece of twine is tied to the back of the basket for hanging.
