Kasai Velvet
African Kuba raffia textile, known as Kasai Velvet. From the Democratic Republic of Congo, of the Kuba people. Highly prized. Hand-woven palm fiber, with cut-loop pile embroidery of fine leaf fibers to creat the velvet texture. Age unknown. Probably mid 20th century?
