Basketry Earrings and Necklace
Earrings and necklace by Vivien Hailstone. Beaded earrings with basketry pendant, featuring red beads and abalone shell beads of various shapes and sizes. Red beads surround the woven basketry circle and are on either side of each abalone shell bead on each of the five tassels hanging from the earrings. The tassels also have a woven element to them. The beads are attached to a metal hook and a small piece of tan leather, to allow use of wearing them. Small, aged paper tag with "1995" written on it in cursive, together with the earrings.
The necklace: woven basketry pendant circle with five beaded tassels hanging from it, with brown, black, white, wooden, and polished abalone shell beads of various shapes and sizes. The back of the basketry circle is covered with leather, and has the artist's signature "Vivien Hailstone" and date "1995" written on it. Matching set A (necklace) + B (earrings).
There is writing on the leather back of the woven circle, although it is somewhat illegible:
