Plaited Winnowing Tray with attached photograph Winnowing tray is very rare, from Jemez, NM. Ben's father was friends with people from tribe. Traditionally winnowing trays were made by men in this culture, and woven from yucca fiber. Attached photo and notecard read "made by Mr. Juan Luis Pecos, Jemez Pueblo, N. Mex. Awarded 1st place ribbon, Southwest Indian Arts Fair 6/1973" (on other side): Mr. Pecos was elected to tribal offices: 2nd Lt Gov. 1933 1st Lt. Gov. 1935 Gov 1945 1956 1962 1966 Was 75 yrs old when he made this basket.
