Necklace

Necklace

Santa Domingo Pueblo Heishi bead necklace shell, turquoise and Lapis Lazuili and with some metal beads. 10 strands. This necklace was in Ben Benson's family, and came from a man named Hartman Lomawaima (not the artist of the necklace) who was Hopi-second Mesa, and Director of Arizona State Museum. It is an excellent example of "blended" traditions- rough/ natural stones similar to Navajo and fine cylindrical beads of Santo Domingo.
