ear scoop
Birka earscoop/Spoon (bronze)
Replica of ear scoop found at archeological site in Birka, Sweden. Dated between 750-960. with a ladle shaped end, this tool was used to remove ear wax. Often found with loop at top (like this one) to carry on a chain, or attached to a brooch, along with other tools such as tweezers, pick, and nail cleaner. They were often ornately decorated and displayed as status symbol as well as for function.
