  • Cultural Context: This mask probably belonged to the Bali people of Indonesia, and represents the primordial evil Rangda (The Widow or The Witch). Her counterpart in Balinese mythology is Barong, who fights against her in traditional Balinese Hindu dances called the Calon Arang (which also happens to be the traditional name for Rangda as well.)
