Kachina Trio
Trio Set of Dancing Kachina Dolls. The three kachina dolls are mounted on the same wooden base. They are Crow Mother Kachina and two Whippers. The group are by Ruby Paleakah and signed on the base.
Angwusnasomataqa, mother of the Hu Kachinas is consider by some Hopi to the mother of all the kachinas. She appears in connection with the initiation of the children, although she also appears on other occasions. During the initiation ceremonies, the children are whipped in the kiva with yucca leaf, and then given prayer feathers and a meal.
