Part of the Elsie Allen Pomo Basket Collection. Fluffy feathers of the mallard duck and meadowlark cover the convex surface of this basket. A simple and fluid geometric pattern has been achieved using the contrasting yellow and deep green tones. In addition, quail top knot feathers accentuate the rim. The preservation of the feathers is outstanding. This is a fine basket from one of the world's great weavers. The weave is three-rod coiling with a sedge grass root weft over willow warp sticks.
