Basket Start

Basket Start

Part of the Elsie Allen Pomo Basket Collection Chinese pheasant feathers and mallard feathers were used to entirely cover the exterior of this basket. The weaving is three-rod coiling with sedge root that was used for the weft and peeled willow for the rod foundation. Three rods can be seen sticking out at one corner. Presumably this was part of Elsie's instructional collection that she utilized in the public schools.
