Part of the Elsie Allen Pomo Basket Collection A foundation rod is coiled, to the left, with a weft of sedge grass root and designs in dyed bulrush. Arrowhead shapes and a vertical zigzag grace the sides. The basket shape is a flaring bowl with sides that rise from a flat bottom. The rim is coiled with alternating light and dark bands. The symmetry is outstanding, given the small size of the piece. This is a fine example of Pomo miniaturized weaving.
