Twined Storage Basket

Twined Storage Basket

Part of the Elsie Allen Pomo Basket Collection A pleasing globose shape was achieved in this piece with a wide mouth. Such shapes were used in cooking and food storage, although this would be a small version. Simple band designs are filled with clusters of checks, arranged in crosses and pyramids. There are five design bands. Plain twining is the weave in sedge grass root over a warp of willow with the designs woven in redbud.
