Beaded Basket

Beaded Basket

Part of the Elsie Allen Pomo Basket Collection By great weaver Annie Lake, this creation has contrasting blue and yellow seed beads sewn into the coiled weft. The Pomo are the only tribe where this tradition exists. In this piece the weaver has utilized yellow check shapes that form diamond configurations on the blue beaded sides of the globose shape. One-rod coiling was employed using willow warp and a weft of sedge grass root. This is a fine and rare example that contains a "Dau" deviation in the design.
