Beaded Canoe Basket

Beaded Canoe Basket

Part of the Elsie Allen Pomo Basket Collection Also from the inspired hands of the great Annie Lake, this creation has contrasting blue, red, and white seed beads sewn into the coiled weft. The Pomo are the only tribe where this tradition exists. In this piece the weaver has utilized bird like designs that rise up from the base on the sides of the globose shape. One-rod coiling was employed using willow warp and a weft of sedge grass root. This is a fine and rare example of great importance in the collectors' market today.
