Twined Basket
Part of the Elsie Allen Pomo Basket Collection.
Another extraordinary basket from the hands of the gifted Annie Burke, this major piece has a lovely bowl shape with curving sides that rise from a rounded base. Six bands of designs are seen in redbud with a clear "Dau" design change in the central band. A close lattice twining was used to achieve a rich surface texture in sedge grass root over a willow warp. The warps are clipped at the rim. This is one of finest examples of this basket form in any collection.
