Twined Basket

Twined Basket

Part of the Elsie Allen Pomo Basket Collection Exquisite in form and execution, this lovely globose work of art is most pleasing to the eye. A tight and close weave of lattice twining was used to achieve near perfect symmetry. Willow was employed for the warp with a weft of sedge grass root and designs in redbud. A total of five band designs are present, three on the curving walls and two at the base. A beautiful "Dau" deviation in the designs graces the large design band. This is one of the finest examples of this basket form in any collection.
