Twined Utility Basket

Twined Utility Basket

Part of the Elsie Allen Pomo Basket Collection This shallow basin shaped piece was created with an open lattice twining. The warp is willow. The sedge grass root forms the weft and there are two band design groups that utilize redbud. The designs consist of one plain band and one of triangular shapes that are often described as arrowhead patterns. The rim is reinforced with a wrapped rod of alternating light and dark segments.
