Twined Utility Basket

Part of the Elsie Allen Pomo Basket Collection A basin shape was achieved by the weaver in the creation of this open lattice twined basket. Such examples were sometimes used for serving food. Two bands of designs, woven in redbud, grace the sides. These bands are composed of large and small checks. The rim is a wrapped rod, designed with alternating light and dark segments. The warp is willow and the weft is sedge grass root.
