Part of the Elsie Allen Pomo Basket Collection. The design in this wonderful basket tray has a very special feature. The elbow or lightning patterns create concentric geometrics. Each geometric has an opening somewhere in the design so that no geometric is entirely closed. Salome Alcantra is a Pomo spiritual leader and the "Dau" would be consistent with the attitudes of a shaman. Beautifully crafted in sedge grass root with single rod coiling, this piece has black designs in dyed bulrush. The symmetry is near perfect in shape and designs.
