  • Cultural Context: This photo was donated by George Switzer, in 1989, along with a series of photographs from a field expedition he took with Jesse Peter, a teacher at Santa Rosa Middle School. Peter was an amature geologist/archaeologist/anthropologist and often took junior college students, like Switzer, on field expeditions to gather specimens. Those collections became the basis of a natural history museum at SRJC, which later evolved into the Native American Art Museum. Since Switzer donated this picture with the others (see Accession numbers 97.015 through 97.042), it has been kept in that context as a collection.
