Friendship Basket
Friendship basket- bundle coiling: warp - deer grass bundle: weft- Sedge root: light colored base weft Juncus: design elements: bracken fern root (black) Redbud (red): Design pattern - 3/4 inches below the rim is a band with a diamond, rattle snake pattern of red and black (diamonds are red). Below band is (28) human figures (2 1/2 inches tall) holding hands. Below figures are 6 cross design elements evenly spaced around basket. Each consists of a small red cross which is centered inside a larger cross in the negative boardered in black: In between each design element is a black "I" shape with red upside down triangles inside them. Rim finish has alternating stitches of black and natural (Juncus) in 5 spots, evenly spaced. Rim has some breaks of weft; Exterior also has some breakages in the weft. There is a hole in base center, 1/4" inch wide. Probably from placing basket on lamp post.
