Basketry lid: plain twined with false embroidery.Warp - spruce root; weft - spruce root; false embroidery: natural grass (yellow) & dyed grass (orange & brown). Design pattern: center of lid is raised like rattle top (not a rattle top); raised center has four trapezoids evenly spaced - two natural grass - two dyed brown grass. Near the rim is a zig zag pattern of orange dyed bear grass with small brown trapezoids inset in the zig zags. Lid interior: shows five dark bands around circumfrence; each band is two stitches wide and is brownish grey in color. The interior center has been dyed orange. It appears that exterior center was also dyed orange but has faded.
