Water Jar
Water Jug. Aboriginal, not a tourist item. Made of spring-peeled willow, diagonal twining with multi-bands of 3-strand twining. Originally had horse hair handles. Coated with pinon pine pitch.
This is a water carrying jug from the Northern Paiute people of the Basin Area (California, Idaho, Nevada and Oregon). This is not a tourist item- it was almost certainly used by indigenous people. It’s made from sprint-peeled willow, and originally had horse hair handles, and is coated with pinon pine pitch to make it waterproof. It was collected in 1935 but could be much older.
