Beaded Purse
Beaded purse - completely beaded ( front and back); front flap closure; background beaded field in pink beads; 2 red roses with green leaves on back; pale yellow rose with green leaves on front flap; swastika in double rows of copper faceted beads on front of body; bottom rim of purse appears to have been repaired with blue beads; interior of purse is blue silk (badly decayed); closure is 4 snaps.
Note: There is historical precedence of the use of swastika-like designs by North American native peoples, who usually viewed the symbol as a representation of the four directions. This symbol was discontinued by Native Americans for trade goods when it was adopted by the Nazi party in Germany.
