Coiled Basket
Hopi 2nd mesa coiled basket. Globular shaped basket using a grass bundle, Takashu, and a weft of yucca. The designs are aniline dyed with red, green and originally black. The original tag attached states that it is "1900-1910 Aniline dye, Rain Cloud and all seeing Eye. Chief Joe". There is also an animal design of a dog with a rain cloud over it in an alternating pattern between the clouds and rain.
