Wood Carving of Human Figure
Santo Figure. This male figurine was originally covered with plaster then painted in the following color scheme; Black: hair Blue: shirt and boots Yellow: top of boot and edging of shirt Green: skirt Red: cape. The right hand is missing and the right to e portion of the foot. The paint is flaking off badly from the fore head area and is very fragile. The eyes are porcelain/glass cat eyes. They are held in place with was. The left eye was detached from the socket and I was able to tentatively position it by placing a small amount of sterile cotton in the socket and maneuver the eye back in place. It is held in place by a small drop of Tacky glue (water soluble) at the corner closest to the eye. There is a crack visible where the face was removed after carving to allow the positioning of the eyes. In a hole on the top of the head there is a broken red peg that can be removed easily for inspection.
