Sand Painting
Navajo unframed sand painting. Painting is done on 1/2" particle board. Label on backside: "Navajo Yei Baa Cha Dancers. Alfredo Watchman. Sheep Sheep. Tohalchi, N. Mex. 65.00." Dancer has on blue jean pants, concho belt and yellow shirt. He is wearing a wooden mask and a necklace with a jocula. He is holding a rattle in his right hand and some green plant material in his left. The mask has a large full neck piece, rounded head and protruding beak-like mouth. The back is a tan-orange color with a dark blue fern pattern dividing the green from the top of the mask. The dancer has a red/brown boarder enclosing the 2 sides and bottom of the picture. The background is a natural color sand.
