Water Drum

Water Drum

Navajo Water Drum/Jar with rawhide tie and skin. This red clay pot has a flat bottom with fire marks on the outside. It appears to have about a 2" chip (indentation) out of the rim hidden by the rawhide. There is a small horizontal hole in the pot 1/2" x 1/8" below the rawhide lid. There is some kind of dried material on the inside of the jar rattling around...possibly the broken clay. The jar has a pine pitch gloss over the body of the pot. See file folder 90.255
