San Idlefonso Polychrome jar - Red clay with buff slip background with red and black painted designs. Around the rim there is acrylic paint used to repair jar. Designs around base are a series of black zig-zag designs with one red line. Alternative black and red semi-circles ending with 2 red ones in a row. The neck has 3 sets of stylized bird wing patterns. There are 4 drilled holes in the bottome of the pot through clay - Base is indented NOTE: Should be compared with example of Nicolasa's work. Surface has cochiti slip. Cochiti slip was not compatable with clay and resulted in an alligator cracking - slip is popping off in several areas. CIRCA: 1890-1910
