War Club

War Club

Replica of a war club used probably by Plains Indians (possibly Crow). The club head is a smooth rock 4 1/2" long. It is attached by a thick rawhide thong which in turn is attached to the shaft of the club by a rawhide thong wound around the wood shaft. The shaft is decorated with a continuous string of seed beads that are wound around the shaft and change from 1 1/2" yellow to blue to red all the way down the shaft. A lock of horse hair is attached to the rawhide at the upper end of the club. Two strands of blue and red braided material is attached to the end to provide a strap to go around the wrist. This is a fine replica. It has been made to look old by rubbing bees wax and some sort of dirt material on the club. Upon closer inspection one can see new thread used for the beading and new material used in the strap.
