Doll

Doll

Doll made of a flat piece of redwood.. The face is stained red. The black hair is painted on front and back. Holes are drilled for the eyes. The doll probably once had clam shell money bead eyes inlaid in the holes, but now are missing. The doll is dressed in a cotton flannel dress, decorated with green ribbons around the neck and waist, which is tied in a flower at front with sashes. There are three mother of pearl buttons down front of dress top.A rolled, brown cotton stocking is used for the arms. Her wrists are marked by black cotton thread. Her hands are the end of the stocking roll. She has an underskirt of red floral cotton fabric, which hands 3/4" below her dress hem. Her torso and legs are one solid piece which comes to a point. Her torso and leges are covered with the same brown stocking. Fabric pieces are all hand-sewn except the hend on the underskirt which is machine stitched.
