Cochiti - Dog Figurine
Dog figurine - Red clay; modeled; slip painted; oxidation fired. Dog standing on 4 legs. Polychrome; black and white on red. White slip on body; leaving "negative" red spots on back, tail, ears and nose. Black eyes and toes; black "collar" around neck. Tail has been broken and repaired.

- Cultural Context: Cochiti has long been associated with a ceramic figurine tradition, maintaining it, even when other Pueblos gave it up. The popularity of Cochiti figurines, particularly, the "Storyteller", has inspired artists in Pueblos to make figurines again.
