Deep red designs spiral up in what may be an "elbow" pattern, as described in the Allen family documentation on this piece. Perfect symmetry is achieved in the shape and designs. This is truly a great work of basketry art. Sedge grass root was utilized for the weft and redbud for the designs. The warp is willow.
