Beaded Basket
Part of the Elsie Allen Pomo Basket Collection
Another beautiful piece from the inspired hands of a great weaver, this creation has green, orange, and blue, glass seed beads sewn into the coiled weft. The Pomo are the only tribe where this tradition exists. In this piece the weaver has utilized the elbow or lightning designs, zigzags that spiral up from the base on the sides of the globose shape. One-rod coiling was employed using willow warp and a weft of sedge grass root. A "Dau" deviation in the design is present in white beads.
