Twined Utility Basket
Part of the Elsie Allen Pomo Basket Collection
This beautiful work of art has a globose shape and rounded base. Crossing diagonal lines of design are composed of diamond shapes and triangular serrates. Alternating light and dark checks mark the underselvage of the rim. The base has a serrated circle. The weave is diagonal twining in sedge grass root over a foundation of willow. The designs are in redbud. This is a classic example of this Pomo form.
