Huipil / textile
Ceremonial güipil, cotton
The Palik’ aarko (thunder and lightning) tells the story of the courtship and elopement of the first man, the sun god, and woman, the moon goddess.
This example incorporates some naturally dyed threads from a group of women at San Juan La Laguna on lake Atlilan.
Head openings are often cut in the center after they are woven but Ed had them uncut, making them better for hanging.
