African Masks from the Narita Collection

African Masks on exhibit in Doyle Library

Fall 2024

During the summer of 2024, with the help of student employee Yana Ross, the museum unveiled two vibrant exhibits showcasing African Masks from the remarkable collection of Barbara and Hiro Narita. Both Naritas are Hollywood royalty, with Hiro capturing scenes on film and Barbara wearing multiple hats as a production manager, script supervisor, and writer. Following Barbara's passing in 2013 in Petaluma, her loving husband graciously gifted her extensive array of Pacific Northwest art and African Masks to the SRJC Multicultural Museum. Dive into the magic of these masks at the Doyle Library lobby on the Santa Rosa Campus and the second floor of Call Hall on the Petaluma Campus.
