Santos and Retablos
Santos, or carvings of saints, played a crucial role in bringing the Catholic Church to the New World during the Spanish Colonial era, beginning in the 15th century. Retablos are paintings that tell the story of the lives of saints. The objects represented in this exhibit are all from the late 1800's - early 1900's.
